CLASSES

Classes for Adults

We run a number of classes for adults each week for all standards.
Classes operate on a 'course' basis (usually synchronised with SCC's academic 1/2 terms), with a fee for the number of weeks in the course.

Our approach to adult courses

Couples attending our courses will dance together throughout each session.
It is not our policy to rotate partners.
Singles are welcome on courses but will need to partner with another single - this may mean that some single ladies may need to learn the man's steps.
We like to keep classes intact for as long as possible, hence the class progresses at an appropriate speed and becomes steadily more advanced.

Adults Classes - Missed Classes Policy
We try to be flexible about your missing a class, with options for attending a different session or practice in lieu, however, we do have some policies in this respect:
1. For each missed class we will offer a value in kind of a replacement class of £10.
The objective of class replacements is primarily to provide a way of catching up or offering a practice alternative.

2. All options for replacement for a missed class are offered within the same 1/2 term, or at latest the 1/2 term following (except across the Summer break, where, due to price changes, carry forward to classes will not be available).
3. Replacement offerings for each missed class will be, in order
(i) Attendance of an alternative class
(ii) Attendance of a practice
(iii) Where more than one class has been missed due to e.g. illness or annual holiday, a catch-up private lesson (1/4 hour per missed class).

Classes for Children & Youths

We run a number of classes for adults each week for all standards.
Classes operate on a 'course' basis (usually synchronised with SCC's academic 1/2 terms), with a fee for the number of weeks in the course.

Classes for Children (5 years and over)

We take children from the age of 5 years. The first class, for the younger children (usually 5 to 9 years) covers basic Ballroom & Latin American plus a number of fun party dances. The second class (usually 9 to 12 years) covers Ballroom & Latin American dances plus some Salsa and Argentine Tango with partners. Both groups train the children to take medals should they wish to do so. We have a number of helpers on hand to keep the breakout sub-groups small.

Classes for Youths (Secondary School upwards)
The classes are suitable for new starters and experienced dancers and are predominantly geared towards individual medals. Some partnering takes place after medal tests. Ballroom and Latin American are split into separate sessions, most of the time further split into classes geared to specific medal grades.

General Term-time Schedule
Classes are 45 mins duration except Youth Ballroom which is 30 mins.

Thursdays:
4:45pm - Ages 5 to 9 years, North Holmwood Village Hall
5:30pm - Ages 9 to 12 years, North Holmwood Village Hall
Fridays:

5:45pm - Youth Latin American, North Holmwood Village Hall
